It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Adia (Boydunyk) Fedash, 78, on November 25, 2022 at her second home in Hunter, NY.
Adia was born on May 8, 1944 in Ukraine. She was raised in the East Village, Manhattan, attended St. George School. At a young age, Adia and her parents relocated to Teaneck, NJ where she graduated from Teaneck Hgh School.. She completed her education at Fairleigh Dickinson University.where Adia received a Bachelor's Degree in English. Adia’s sympathetic and goodhearted nature led her to a career as a social worker for the City of New York.
On August 24, 1974, Adia married Orest Fedash and together they raised two children, Talia and Darian (Darko), while residing in Oradell, NJ for more than 30 years. Her second home in the mountains of Hunter, NY brought her so much joy, spending time around the "vatra" (campfire) singing songs late into the night.
Adia volunteered her time generously and was active in several organizations. Following in the footsteps of her parents, Adia was a very active and long-time member of Plast, the Ukrainian Scouting Organization. Lifetime friendships were made in the Plast Kurin (sorority) “Chornomorski Chvyli.” She was also an active member in KLK (Carpathian Ski Club) and the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA).
Adia was a giving person, smiling and ready to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed a good book and a great Broadway show, was always ready to dance a tango, and of course knew the lyrics to every Ukrainian song.
Adia is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Orest; daughter Talia and her husband Ihor Pawluk; son Darian and his wife, Cynthia; and her two granddaughters Kateryna (Katya) and Alexandra (Alya) Pawluk, whom she adored. She is predeceased by her parents, Yaroslaw Boydunyk and Daria Rabiy.
