Alex Pastushenko

Alex "Oleh" Pastushenko, 69 of New Providence, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2024 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, with his family by his side.

Born in the Bronx, NY, he lived in Irvington & Union for many years, before moving to New Providence 20 years ago. He retired from a long career in the Insurance & Banking industry.

While living in Irvington & Union, Alex was very active in local politics and was a member on the school board for multiple terms. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in both Union and New Providence in addition to his membership with the Elks of New Providence.

He was an avid sports fan, supporting local New York/New Jersey sports teams. He played soccer in his youth and always made sure to be on the sidelines for his daughter’s games.

Besides sports, Alex was also a fan of game shows and listening to 50’s & 60’s music.

He is the loving husband of Gail (nee: Gorsky), cherished father of Christina and the beloved brother of Vera Moczula & her husband Roman.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Union Funeral Home, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Ukrainian Church, 719 Sanford Ave., Newark, NJ. Cremation will take place privately.
