Alex Ruiz

Alex Ruiz, 20, of Union, N.J., passed away on July 24, 2024 after a short, but brave battle with cancer. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Union Funeral Home - Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union. A Catholic prayer service will be offered at 1 p.m., with burial at Hollywood Cemetery, 1621 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, following. Memories and condolences may be shared at unionfuneralhome.com.

Born in Newark, N.J., Alex lived in Union. He was a graduate of Union High School and wanted to become a real estate agent and pursue his dreams of starting his own business.

Alex was an adventurer and a free-spirited young man. In October of 2023, Alex went to Africa by himself and completed one of his dream goals – climb Kilimanjaro, one of the tallest mountains in the world, at the age of 19. He loved to rock climb and run.

He is survived by his loving parents, Julio and Rosa Ruiz; cherished sisters, Gissela Ruiz and Jessica Ruiz; and many other family members and friends.
