Alla Cherney

June 24, 1927 — April 20, 2016

Alla Cherney, beloved mother of Natalia and Andrew and wife of the late George Cherney, died Wednesday the 20th of April at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. Alla worked for the City of New York in the mid-1970s and 1980s and later took a position at the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, where she worked until retiring. Alla was very active in the Ukrainian diaspora community, especially with the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, to which she dedicated much of her time and energy. She was greatly loved by the community and will be missed by all. She is survived by her daughter Natalia and son Andrew, both of whom brought great joy to her later years. Memorial gifts may be made to the United Ukrainian Relief Committee (Phila, PA) or the Ukrainian Museum (NYC). The Union Funeral Home in Union, New Jersey has been entrusted with arrangements.
