Amira Tannous

Amira (nee Chalet) Tannous, 89, of Bloomfield, N.J. passed away on Friday, September 8th, 2017 with her loving family at her side. She was born on January 15th, 1928 in Aaba, Lebanon and was the daughter of the late Gerge and Julia (nee Khalifeh) Chalet. Amira had gone back and forth between Lebanon and the United Sates for several years before settling in Bloomfield, N.J. in 2007. She loved to cook her family and liked plants. Amira was the beloved wife of the late Chafic Tannous; loving mother of Jihan Tannous, Elias (Lois) Tannous, Antoine (Carla) Tannous and Alexandere Tannous; cherished grandmother of Chad, Anthony and Alex Tannous. She was the last sibling of the "great 9".Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 237 Long Hill Road, Little Falls, N.J. 07424. The Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 7:00 pm. Amira will be entombed with her husband in her hometown of Aaba, Lebanon at Saint Takla Cemetery. The family has requested that donations are made to the church in Amira's memory, and not to send flowers.
