Angela Kokkotos Hondros

January 20, 1933 — April 2, 2019

Angela was the beloved mother of Patricia Kavouras and Steven Hondros, the loving grandmother of Nicholas and Brandon Hondros and the dear sister of George Kokkotos and Katina Platinas. She was born in Greece and completed high school with superior grades, ranking top in her class. Completing high school in the 50s in Greece was equivalent to completing college today.. Her dream was to be a school teacher. Before she could pursue her dream, she married and came to the States, settling in Elizabeth, NJ. While raising her children, Angela assisted her late husband, Nicholas Hondros, in the restaurant business and for several other years, she worked at other diners. She was a life time member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. She made pastries and did other work for the church's annual festivals. She was also a devoted member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and worked tirelessly in their fund raising efforts. She was honored and awarded by Philoptochos and served as a Secretary on their Board. Angela was well liked and respected by her fellow members. She had a warm heart and loved people, so they were naturally drawn to her, and her beautiful, signature smile was irresistible. Angela's favorite pastime was gardening. She thoroughly enjoyed it and grew beautiful roses and other varieties of flowers and vegetables. She was also very talented with the arts and crafts and was a great homemaker. Very multi-talented. She was a truly wonderful Mother- the epitome of unconditional love! Her children loved her very much, too, and they will always remember her. May her Memory be Eternal! In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor her memory can make a donation to the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
