Benny Perez

Benny Perez, 61 of Newark, entered into eternal life on July 3, 2018 at St. Michaels Medical Center, Newark. Born March 22, 1957 in Newark, to the late Benito & Maria (nee: Rodriguez), he was a lifelong resident. A graduate of East Side High School & Essex County College, Benny enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to listen to the oldies, watch the Honeymooners and the Andy Griffith Show, classic muscle cars and long rides in his Dodge Challenger. He served as a Newark Police Officer for 25 years, retiring this year as Detective. He was a member of the Hispanic Law Enforcement Society and the Newark FOP. Hes the beloved husband of Nancy (nee: Blanco), cherished father, of Desiree & her fianc, Anthony Martinez, & dear brother of Dennis Perez. He is also survived by his mother in law, Angela Blanco, sister in law Susan Sammarro & her husband, Robert, his nephew, Melvin Silva & his Coton de Tulear, Jake. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Mausoleum Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
