Bernice Hunter

March 16, 1944 — April 15, 2019

Bernice Hunter, 75, daughter of the late Modie Bell Cormier and Clifton Horton, was born in Enfield, North Carolina on March 16, 1944 and passed away Monday, April 15, 2019, at home, surrounded by family and friends. She started her career in banking, then received a degree in X-ray Technology. She was employed by Beth Israel Medical Center as a Radiological Technologist in Mammography, when she retired. She practiced Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Buddhism and was a member of Soka Gakkai International. She enjoyed collecting antiques, reading, and time with family and friends. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Donald Hunter; step-father, Raymond Cormier; grandson, Nahagg Hunter; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Horton and Aaron Williams. She will be remembered by her children: sons, Raymond Hunter and Derek Hunter (NFD); daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey Hunter and Michael Abbate, Kim Hunter and Howard Borst; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Horton and Diane Horton; several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends. A Memorial Service honoring her life will be held at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cremation was private.
