Bohdan Kotys, 89 years old, passed away on May 26, 2016 at the Merwick Care Center in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Friday, June 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lytwyn & Lytwyn Funeral Home in Union, NJ. Parastas is at 5 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Brunswick, NJ followed by interment at St. Andrew Cemetery in South Bound Brook, NJ. Bohdan was born on March 11, 1927 in Peremyshl, Ukraine. He obtained a degree in architecture from the prestigious Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe, Germany. For many years he worked as an architect in New Brunswick, NJ. He also served in the Armed Forces of the United States and received an Honorable Discharge. In addition, Bohdan was very active in the Ukrainian diaspora community as a member the Ukrainian National Association, the Ukrainian Engineers' Society and served on the Board of Directors of The Ukrainian Museum in New York (1981-1986 and 1995-1998). Bohdan is survived by his two children, Alexander and Liliana and granddaughter Lara In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Ukrainian Museum, 222 East 6th St., New York, NY 10003.
