Brian P. McCormick, 62, of Jersey City, N.J., passed away on August 13, 2024. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, Central Avenue and Ferry Street, Jersey City. Brian was a life-long resident of Jersey City, except for a brief residency in Kendall Park. He grew up in a loving home with his parents, the late Thomas Sr. and Mildred McCormick, along with his late brother Thomas Jr. He graduated from Hudson Catholic Regional High School in Jersey City. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1980 to 1986 before being honorably discharged as a Corporal. While in the Marines, he served as a mortar man and was the recipient of the following awards and citations: Rifle Expert Badge, Letter of Appreciation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal.
Brian worked for the Board of Education as a painter. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, watching the history channel, biking and going on adventures with his dog. He loved to explore New York City, on foot and by bicycle, and all that it had to offer, including visits to the various exhibits at the local museums. He especially loved to go to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy and other Italian feasts in the area. Brian and his mom, Millie, would often go to New York and see Broadway shows, and Brian, Millie, and his cousin, Donna and her family enjoyed trips to the New Jersey State Fair in the Meadowlands.
Brian was a proud dog dad, and is survived by his best friend, Jolly, who will now live with Brian’s cousin, Gerri and her family. Jolly is adjusting well and is being nurtured, cared for, spoiled, and loved. He was predeceased by two other four-legged best friends, Wally and Ollie.
Above all things, Brian was a kind soul who never wanted to burden people or had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be greatly missed.
Predeceased by his parents, brother, and his aunt, Anna Carroll, whom he had a special relationship with, who passed away 10 days before him. He is survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles.
