Clarita B Carenio

Clarita B. Carenio, 87 of Newark, entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2023 at University Hospital, Newark. Born May 10, 1935 in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, to the late Silvestre Tagalan & Estefania Ballesteros, she was a resident of Newark since the late 1950’s. When she emigrated from the Philippines to the US in 1956, she first settled in Brooklyn, and soon after moved to the Ironbound section of Newark.

Clarita knew how to have fun. She was an award-winning Ballroom Dancer, having attended the Arthur Murray Dance Studio’s she was a natural at dancing the Samba, Rumba and more. She loved her trips to Atlantic City to play the slots, BINGO games and trips to Radio City Music Hall to see the shows. She also traveled around the country, enjoying trips to Las Vegas, California, Vermont and Canada. She was an active member of the Newark Senior Center at Ironbound Stadium.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Anatolio T. Carenio (1993) & her son, Rudolf Carenio (2003).

She is the beloved mother of Anatolio Carenio & his wife, Carol, Arlene Carenio, & Joannie Harris & her husband, George T, III, cherished grandmother of Anatolio P. Carenio & his wife, Vanessa & Sum W. Harris. She is also the proud and loving great grandmother of Anatolio Mario Carenio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, January 6th, gathering at the Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 259 Oliver St., Newark, NJ.

Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
