Clerveaux Morinvil, age 68, of Union, N.J. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday August 1, 2023. He was born August 12, 1954, in Marchand Dessalines, Haiti to Saint-Pierre Vilceus and Claire Marie Therese Morinvil.
Mr. Morinvil immigrated to America in 1983, initially planned, to settle in Brooklyn, N.Y. with his father, but his desire to be closer to his fiancé, Yolene Honore, motivated him to move to New Jersey and stay with his beloved Uncle, Moliere (Ton Moye) Vilceus.
By 1984, he established a life as a newly wedded husband to Yolene in East Orange, New Jersey. While living there, he worked hard as a glass factory worker. However, it is his work as a N.Y.C. taxi driver that allowed him to become a homeowner there and then in Union in 1999, where he lived until his last day on this Earth.
Clerveaux knew he had a calling upon his life from the day the Lord stopped him in his tracks, which he describes as his “real birthday” in March 15, 1978. Following the footsteps of his mentor Pastor Charite, Clerveaux set out to live a Godly life. He contented himself as a member and then later as Sunday school teacher at Mount Olive Church of God. It was in this church he and his wife had their first nine children. As he served there and as his family grew, Clerveaux became all the more focused on providing for them through his taxi business. Yet, the Lord had other plans.
Ultimately, he had to make the choice to leave his livelihood and the church he had been a part of for almost 20 years to accept and surrender to God’s patient call for him as Pastor. In October of 2000, started his work as Pastor of Philadelphia Church of God, which began in his home with wife and children. Today, the church is situated in Irvington, New Jersey.
Pastor Clerveaux established this church knowing it was not his, but the Lord’s and led it with complete reliance on God’s Will. He never missed a moment to encourage a person to serve the Lord and for the church to practice and live in brotherly love. Praising God was so integrated in him that you could not have a conversation with him without hearing a “Hallelujah” or “Tout Glwa pou Bondye”.
During his last few moments on this earth Pastor Clerveaux persevered in encouraging his family and congregation to serve the Lord with their lives and giving God all the glory that He deserves. Sunday July 9th, 2023 Pastor Clerveaux’s last message was titled “How to give God glory”, which is what he lived by and lived for.
