David J. Samila, 68 of Union, entered into eternal rest on March 13, 2024 at Scotch Plains Senior Housing.
Born in Newark, to the late John K. Samila & Pearl (nee: Chryczak) he lived in Union most of his life until relocating to Scotch Plains recently. He worked as a Parts Attendant for the NJDOT until his retirement in 2003. Cars were one of his passions. He loved working on classic cars in his backyard with his brother and friends. Specifically, his 1977 Dodge Aspen and his brother’s 1965 GTO. As a youth he was athletic, whether it was weightlifting, the high bar or balance beam, his athletic ability was second to none.
He is survived by his wife, Lea (nee: Barino) & his brother, Brian Samila and many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Parastas Service will take place at 2:30 p.m.
Funeral Service on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home, thence to St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 719 Sanford Ave., Newark for a 10:00 a.m. Service.
Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
