Donna Marie Praino

Cherished sister, Donna Marie Praino, 67, passed away on 19 May 2024. Born in Newark, NJ, September 21,1956, she was a lifelong resident. Daughter of Thomas F. Praino and Josephine Praino, Donna was baptized at St. Augustine’s Church, and she graduated Vailsburg High School.

In youth, she worked at the Humane Society and developed a regard for animals. While working for the U.S. Postal Service she received a letter of commendation for her “dedication to duty” by her supervisor. In character, she was always courageous and quick to assist a neighbor in need. In a city of precarious times, she stood a woman in the arena of citizenship.

Her loss is sadly felt by her faithful, long-term partner Qaasim Bass-Ali and her brother Thomas who were proud of her.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Belleville.
