Doris Yaeger

Doris Yaeger passed away on December 22, 2018 at Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center in Chatham, NJ She was the devoted Mother of Karen Leskie and her husband John, and the loving Grandmother of Joshua, Jenna and Krystyna Leski. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Doris was born in Newark and grew up in Irvington, NJ. She attended Chancellor Ave. School and then graduated from Irvington High School-then called Frank H Morrell. She held various jobs throughout her life including working at Prudential, becoming a head teller in a bank, working at Miranol Chemical Company and finally as an executive at Lindemann Marketing. Doris was a creature of habit-having her hair done weekly, food shopping on Saturdays and laundry on Sundays. On holidays, she had specific items that were only hers to prepare. She prided herself on her independence and was able to remain in her family home until her passing. Her family and friends were important to her and she would tell anyone she met about her grandchildren's accomplishments. To this day, she still has friends she met in elementary and high school. Retirement was not easy for her to accept and she found a purpose at Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church where she was an active participant. Involvement with the nursery school was her most enjoyable activity along with lunches with the ladies after meetings. In the end,, she faced death with grace and strength. She spoke about details she wanted and we believe was at peace with the amazing life she had led.
