Edward D. Hall, Jr.

January 14, 1935 — August 31, 2024

Edward D. Hall Jr, 89, of Hamburg and formerly Bloomfield, NJ, entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield, NJ starting at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will immediately follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair, NJ.  All family and friends are welcomed to join.

Edward D. Hall Jr was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ by the late Edward D. Hall Sr and Nellie Polski. He grew up making memories and lifelong friends on Mill Street. He then started what was the beginning of a lifelong career of working hard at the young age of 12 setting pins at Broad & Bay Bowling Alley where he spent much of his time working and grew a love for bowling. Edward went on to graduate from Bloomfield High School, and he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he spent 6 years in the Reserve and 6 months of active duty. He then began working in the Plumbers Union and attending trade school to become a licensed plumber. In 1975 he started his own business at the age of 40, Edward D. Hall Plumbing & Heating, LLC working alongside his two sons and eldest grandson for many successful years.

Edward was fortunate enough to meet the one and only love of his life, the late Caraleen Hall when they were in grammar school. He was always proud to tell the story he was smitten for his wife since 6th grade. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield, NJ in October of 1958. They then settled in on Newark Avenue in Bloomfield where they raised their three children. Years later becoming grandparents to five beautiful grandchildren whom they both loved and adored. Aside from bowling, Edward had a great passion for horses always wishing to live out his dream in the countryside which eventually brought them to relocating to Hamburg, NJ. Not long after making their move to Hamburg, Edward fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a horse, his name was Raider, who became the focal point of many family memories being made for their grandchildren. Along with Raider, Edward always loved his dog Molly as well as his Grand pups Brody & Missy. These family pets brought him immense joy.

Edward will be remembered for the 3 pillars that he lived by: faith, family, friends and his love for a late-night ice cream.

Edward is survived by his three children, Edward, III, Darlene Saporito (the late Richard) & David Hall, his 5 grandchildren; Samantha Saporito-Seideman, Stephanie Saporito, Edward D. IV, Caitlyn Hall & Easton Hall.  and in recent months he found out that he would become a great grandfather to a baby boy in January 2025. He also leaves behind siblings, Geraldine "Geri" Desmarteau, Carol Fuqua & the late Marguerite Boudreaux, a sister-in-law Patricia Panico & nieces/nephews, Edward, Dorothy, Tina, Cathy, Dale, Lisa, the late Mark, Gus, Sharon, Donna, Susanne & Janine.  He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
