Edward Frank Lebryk passed away into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Mary's Rehab Center, Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was born on September 16, 1930 to Frank and Frances (Lavonsky) Lebryk in Detroit, Michigan. He attended St. John the Evangelist grade school and graduated from O.L. Help of Christians grade school in 1945. He went on to St. Ladislaus High School in Hamtramck, Michigan and was a member of the graduating class of 1949. Soon after high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country in the 101st Airborne Division-Infantry during the Korean War. Upon his discharge in 1953 he enrolled in Lawrence Institute of Technology. Edward eventually settled in Newark, New Jersey. He became a letter carrier with U.S. Postal Service and served his whole tenure in the upscale community of Short Hills. He retired in 1996. Edward loved classical music, musicals, and he was an avid baseball fan. He especially loved the Boston Red Sox and his favorite player was Ted Williams. He took every opportunity to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, Ohio. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Lillian and father of John and Thomas. He was the step-father to Sandra (Jim) Armstrong and Jacuelyn (Jim) Kenney. He was the brother of the late Frank T. (Rosemary) Lebryk and Theresa (the late Robert) Ochalek; also the late Josephine and late Joseph. He is also survived by four nephews (Jeff, Michael, Frank and James), one niece (Mary Beth), five step-grandchildren (Scott, Michael, Tim, Erin and Shannon). Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on August 7, 2014 at the Union Funeral Home, Lytwyn & Lytwyn, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, New Jersey 07083 from 9 am to 1 pm.
