Edward retired from the Newark Police Department in 1979, he was a member of the Newark Police Band and the Musicians Guild of Essex County, Local 16. He was the husband of the late Helen (1989) and the father of Dr. Edward Balyk (wife Kathy), Dolores Dolan (husband Robert), and June Martin (husband Scott), Grandfather of Marie Dolan Semendoff (husband Rob), Deanna Dolan and Eddie Balyk, Brother of Walter Balyk (wife Ceal) Great Grandfather of Jessica Strickland and Raven Semendoff, and Great Great Grandfather of Shaelyn Strickland.
