Elizabeth "Betty" Scudese

Elizabeth “Betty” Scudese, 98 of Jersey City, entered into eternal life on June 5, 2021 at Christian Health Care, Wyckoff. Born May 22, 1923 in Jersey City to the late Dominick La Rosa & Clara (nee: Vespoli), she was a proud lifelong resident of Jersey City. On April 28, 1946, she married her beloved Vincent Thomas at Holy Rosary Church. Betty was a devoted housewife, taking care of her family and spending time and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She remained involved with her cherished Holy Rosary Church. As an active parishioner of Holy Rosary, Better was intimately involved with the Rosary Altar Society, the Holy Rosary Seniors, decorating & cleaning the Church and going to all the social functions and affairs celebrated. Not many years ago, she was selected to crown the Blessed Mother at the Rosarians annual May Crowning. She was so excited for that honor. By far of all the joys in and around Holy Rosary it was Betty’s participation in the Annual Parish Feast making Rice balls. For over 30 years, she devoted long days and hours to make sure there were plenty of delicious rice balls for the patrons. She was a roller and could roll like no one else. As the feast and popularity of the rice balls grew larger and larger so did her pride and joy in the preparation. She has affectionately been known as the Queen of the Rice balls. She is predeceased by her husband Vincent Thomas (1975) and five brothers and two sisters. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters: Angela Ferraro (Robert), Clarie King (the late Donald) & Diane Zuccato (Mark), her grandchildren; Robert Ferraro (Christine), Jennifer Micucci (Ronald), Stacey Christenson (Ryan), Donnie King (Lori), Justin Zuccato (Marie), Ashley Pettigrew (John) & her great grandchildren, Gabby, Brady, Alexis, Brianne, Danny, Andrea, Evan, Aiden, Hayley. She is also by many nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Tuesday, gathering at the Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth St., Jersey City, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
