Erma A (Guerriero) Ventola

Erma A. Ventola, 81 of Watchung, formerly of Newark NJ, entered into eternal happiness on September 26, 2018 at her home. She is the beloved daughter of the late Cosimo and Madeline Guerriero and loving wife of the late Deacon Samuel M. Ventola (Ptomiane). She is survived by her 4 children: Anthony R. Ventola and wife Linda of Easton PA. John Ventola and fiancé Louise Roesler of Garwood NJ. Samuel M. Ventola Jr. and wife Angele of Cedar Grove NJ and Anne M. Ventola of Garwood NJ. She is the cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren: Anthony Jr., Katrina, Michael, Jenna Marie, Samantha, Richard, Michelle, Samuel M. III, Victoria, Joseph and two great grandchildren Jacob and Sofia Rae. She is also survived by 4 sisters: Jennie Esposito, Marie Russo, Angela Bozio and Patricia Kiley and one brother, the late Frank Polizio. Erma also leaves behind her sister-in-law Anne Vitiello and her pre-deceased sisters - in- law Ida Colonna, Angela Ventola and Margaret Over. Erma also has many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides being a loving wife and mother, Erma boasts many accomplishments she was greatly involved with "Cursillo" and was Kitchen Coordinator for 11 years. She founded the North Newark chapter of Deborah Hospital. She wrote a cooking column for the Catholic newspaper "The Advocate" called "Cooking with Love" and a series of essays called "Lenten Love Letters to the Lord." She was a cook for the Archdiocese of Newark for 30 years working in various parishes. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sunday, September 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ. Relatives and Friends are invited attend the funeral mass on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 315 First Street, Westfield. (Please meet directly at Church). Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
