Eva Angela Imperatrice

September 29, 1918 — January 26, 2015

Eva Angela Imperatrice (nee Maconi) died on Monday January 26, 2015 in Mountainside Hospital. Visiting hours are from 4 to 8pm on Friday evening January 30 at Levandoski Funeral Home 44 Bay Avenue in Bloomfield. Her funeral will begin at 9am at the funeral home on Saturday morning. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Valentine Church 125 North Spring St. Bloomfield at 10am. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Born in Penns Grove N.J., Eva lived for many years in the Vailsburg Section of Newark until moving to Bloomfield in 1978. She was a person of deep faith, sincere compassion and always listened or extended a hand to those in need. Despite being a nonagenarian, Eva was a contemporary woman with a razor sharp mind. Her magnetic personality, infectious sense of humor and zest for life made her a cherished and beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Eva read voraciously, from newspapers, periodicals, articles, paperbacks and hard copy novels. Her opinions and commentaries on politics, religion and world affairs were incisive and appreciated by her family and friends. Eva also enjoyed Public Broadcasting because it enabled her to participate in theater, opera and concerts by her favorite singer, Andrea Bocelli. Nothing dampened her spirit and lust for life. Eva excelled at her job in comptometry prior to marriage, but selflessly gave it up to lovingly raise her family. When she settled in Bloomfield in 1978, she secured a position with the Bloomfield Board of Education, at North Junior High School where she was a favorite of the faculty and student body. Eva will also be remembered for her love of cooking and a flair for producing generational Italian dishes. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Imperatrice, her son-In-Law Arthur Santucci and ten brothers and sisters, Eva is survived by her children, Anita Santucci, Jim Imperatrice and his wife Kathleen, Anthony Imperatrice and his spouse John Sheehan, grandchildren, Marisa Imperatrice, Christopher Imperatrice and his wife Cori and James Imperatrice. She is also survived by a brother, Oreste Maconi of Penns Grove N.J. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Special Young Adults of Nutley, 83 Franklin Ave. Nutley N.J. 07110.
