Florence Mychajluk

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Teresa Mychajluk (nee: Lyons) on January 5, 2025 in Manchester, NJ. Born on December 27, 1937 in Newark, NJ, Florence was known for her unfaltering patience and quiet presence. She was a dedicated bookkeeper for nearly 4 decades before retiring.

Florence enjoyed bowling and met her beloved husband, Ostap, while bowling with friends. This was the beginning of sharing a lifetime. Other hobbies included playing cards, ping pong and tennis…together. Florence and Ostap traveled extensively. Their travels included Caribbean cruises, trips to Niagara Falls, Canada, the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Yosemite National Park during a 2-week luxury train excursion. After fully retiring, they became snowbirds spending winters in their condo in Clearwater, Florida.

Florence is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ostap: stepchildren Oksana, Natalka, George and daughter-in-law, Motria. She is also survived by her step grandchildren Joseph, Nicole, George Jr and step great grandchildren Angelo, Gio, Niko and Viola Rose. Florence was preceded in death by her siblings May, Margie, Kay, Jackie and nephew, Phillip.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Union Funeral Home – Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave. Union, NJ. Panahida – 5:30 p.m. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 719 Sanford Ave. Newark, NJ. (Please meet directly at the Church)

The graveside service will follow at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, 280 Main St. South Bound Brook, NJ.
