Frances Osther

Mattie Frances Osther, known as Frances, was born in Waynesville, N.C. She moved to New York in her early twenties where she subsequently met and married Andre W. Osther Sr. The young couple started a family, bought a home and moved with their 3 children Andre Jr., Garry and Diane, to Newark, New Jersey where in the fullness of time the family expanded to include daughters Adle and Francine. Frances was a wonderful & caring mother and homemaker. Always advocating and encouraging her children and very active in the church and her community. Frances enjoyed music and reading & was extremely fond of poetry. In later years, she enjoyed traveling frequently with her daughters. Frances instilled in her children a love of literature, education as well as a deep and abiding belief in a loving and forgiving God. Frances was preceded in death by her parents James Forney and Ardalie Luckey Forney, sons, Andre W. Osther Jr., Garry J. Osther and her brother James C. Forney. She is survived by her daughters Diane Osther, Adle Osther and Francine Nazario, her grandchildren Alyce Nazario, Quentin Newman, Taylor McFadden, Michael McFadden and Jeanine Osther, her sister-in-law Georgia Forney as well as many nieces and nephews.
