Freddy P. Gotay Medina

Freddy P. Gotay Medina, 65, of Newark, N.J., passed away on July 18, 2024. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 5-9 p.m. at Union Funeral Home – Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, N.J. Services begin on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be offered at 10 a.m., with burial following at Rosehill Cemetery, Linden, N.J. Born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic to Paulino Medina and Ada Gotay, Freddy came to the U.S. in 1976, and settled in Newark, N.J.  Prior to retiring, he was a full time landscaper at Valley Landscape in Newark.

A loving husband and a father, he was a big sports fanatic and was very much into Major League Baseball and Boxing.  One of his favorite hobbies and love was playing softball on the weekends with his closest friends where they would play against different social clubs.  He also had a love for music especially the Salsa genre in the likes of Joe Arroyo, Cuco Valoy, Raulin, Jose Alberto and the like.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mariluz Medina; children, Arnaldo Medina, Gabriel F. Medina, and Emily Medina; and grandchildren, Micah Josiah Medina, Amiya Faith Nicholson, and Trinity Luz Medina.
