George John Cluen, born on July 4, 1941, was the first of five children to Milton “Jack” Cluen and Anna Raue Cluen. George began working in his father’s mechanic shop, Jack’s Auto Repair, at the age of 9 years old. His father taught him how to repair cars and also instilled in him the desire to start his own business. On weekends, George was an avid race car driver. He would work on his race cars with any downtime that he had. He had exceptional skill with cars and racing and he was admired by many for his ability, both on and off the race track. He started working at General Motors around 1963, about the same time he started dating his future wife, Connie. George married Constance Francis Cordasco on October 31, 1964. They had three children, Nicholas, Natalie and George, Jr. As a father, George taught his children many noble things. He taught them the value of hard work, the belief that they had the ability to do anything in this world, as long as you worked hard, and that we must always be fair to other people. In 1965, George started Kar Kare with his brother-in-Law, Joseph Ciletti in Belleville, NJ. On weekends, George could be found spending time with his extended family at picnics, pool parties and over at people’s houses. He always enjoyed getting together with family, especially his father who would come over every Sunday to bring donuts and say hello. He started Fix-N-Fuel, a mechanic shop and gas station, in his home town of Bloomfield, NJ. George sold Fix-N-Fuel to his oldest son, Nicholas in the early 90’s. George and Connie moved to Waretown, NJ in the mid-90’s. George purchased a large piece of land to start a rifle range, ATV park and campground. His vision was to make a place where people could come to enjoy the outdoors. George and Connie loved going out and spending time with all of the people that would come on their property. He was well respected and loved by them. George John Cluen, beloved husband, father, brother and friend will be missed by all that were touched by his presence. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. ~ Chief Tecumseh 1768-1813 Memorial Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ.
