George Lutz

The Reverend Monsignor George Lutz passed away on August 4, 2012 at home with his family and clergy at his side after a long struggle. The first visiting will be at Saint Anthony of Padua Church 63 Franklin St. in Belleville on Wednesday August 8. The hours are 2pm til 7pm. A rosary service will begin at 7pm with the Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 pm Wednesday evening at St. Anthony's Church. The last visiting will be at Saint Valentine Church 125 North Spring St. in Bloomfield on Thursday morning beginning at 9am. The funeral mass will begin at 11am at St. Valentine Church. The interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair. Monsignor Lutz was born to the late August and Emma Lutz in Newark NJ, 75 years ago. He attended the Nutley elementary public school system, Our Lady of Good Council Church School in Newark, Seton Hall College and Immaculate Conception Seminary. He was ordained by the Most Reverend Thomas A. Boland, STD in Newark on May 26, 1962. He was past Parochial Vicar and Pastor at both St. Agnes Parish (Clark) and Holy Spirit Church (East Orange), Pastor of Holy Spirit/ O.L. Help of Christians Parish ( East Orange), Dean - Essex Vacariate, Pastor at Saint Peter Claver Parish (Montclair), Dean - Iron Bound, Pastor at Saint James Parish (Newark), Coordinator-Brazilian Apostolate, Pastor at Holy Trinity Epiphany Parish (Newark) and Saint Anthony of Padua Parish. He began his religious career in 1962 and retired in 2007, but still continued God's work as a weekend assistant at Saint Valentine Parish (Bloomfield) til the end. During his career he also served others in Inter-Racial Work, Prison, Social Justice, Alcohol and Drug Addiction. He was the loving brother Edward Lutz, Florence Ciak and the late Ruth Sebastian. Foster parent of the late Tommy. Dear uncle of Lisa-ann Kelly, Edward Lutz, David Lutz, Carl Ciak, Joey Ciak, Johnny Ciak, John Sebastian, Steve Sebastian, Patty Alicandri, Carol Rusignuolo and Nancy Aufiero and a host of other family members.
