Gertrude "Trudy" Schmidt, nee Hoffman, died Friday, April 12 at home in Dingmans Ferry, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, April17 at 8:30 AM from the Union Funeral Home-Lytwyn & Lytwyn, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave, Union (unionfuneralhome.com) then to St Theresa Church in Kenilworth for a 10AM Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation is Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Trudy , 76. was the beloved wife of the late Frederick; devoted mother of Terri Dassing and husband Steve, Ronald Compton and wife Patricia, Barbara Herbert and husband Robert, Christopher Schmidt, Lisa Schmidt and husband Timmy Merring and James Schmidt; loving grandmother of Stephen Dassing, Briana and Taylor Compton, Travis, Tabitha and Brandon Schmidt, Robert Herbert and the late Michael Dassing; cherished great grandmother of Nina Nicole and Mikey Dassing and Joey Schmidt. Trudy was a waitress and assistant manager at Friendly's Ice Cream in New Providence for many years, retiring 10 years ago.
