Greta Gail Lee

March 26, 1940 — June 29, 2023

Greta Gail Lee, née LaMotte, was born on Tuesday, March 26, 1940, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. She was the beloved wife of Ulric Lee and a loving mother to her children, Shawn Lawrence and Renelle Lee-Bond. Leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, Greta awakened to Eternal Life on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

Greta was preceded in death by her husband, Ulric Lee, her mother, Rose Sambrano, her father, Eustace LaMotte, her brothers, Arnold "Jimmy", Leroy, Jefferey, and Herman Benn, and her sister, Vilma Bethelmy. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched during her time on Earth.

Greta will be fondly remembered by her surviving family members, including her son, Shawn Lawrence, and daughter, Renelle Lee-Bond. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Robert Lee, Cheryl Ann Williams, Deborah Lee-Martin, and Jeanne Ebersold. Her brothers, Rudolph Sambrano, Arthur and Frank Benn, as well as her sister, Gloria Lawrence, will forever hold her dear in their hearts. She was a grandmother to Nikeisha Lawrence, Shane, Enya, Alana, and Carter Bond, and a great-grandmother to Sterling Bond. Her love and devotion to her family were unwavering, and she took great joy in being a part of their lives. Greta's presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to be a source of strength and inspiration for her loved ones.

As a young woman, Greta's exceptional skills as a stenographer paved the way for a long and prosperous career in Trinidad & Tobago's Board of Tourism. Her work helped showcase the cultural richness, natural wonders, and vibrant spirit of her homeland to the world. After retiring, Greta chose to remain active and engaged by embarking on a new adventure as a private nanny. This transition allowed her to share her love and wisdom with younger generations.

Ever an ardent and opinionated fan, Greta immersed herself in watching various sports. Whether from the electric nature of soccer to the grace of tennis, or the thrill of basketball to the strategic bowling of cricket, she found joy in witnessing the athletic prowess, incredible feats, and the highs and lows of each game.

Greta was not only a beloved wife, mother, and family member, but she was also a vibrant presence in the lives of those around her. She had an infectious personality and a vivaciousness that made her the life of any gathering. Greta had a remarkable talent for hosting and was known for her warm hospitality and great conversation. Her home was a place of laughter, joy, and comfort, where friends and family were always welcome. One of Greta's passions was cooking, and she excelled at it. Food was her love language, and she delighted in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Whether it was a holiday feast, a simple get-together or an impromptu visit, Greta's table brought people together and created warm, lasting memories.

But Greta's unwavering passion extended far beyond her love for hosting and cooking. She had a heart filled with compassion and a deep desire to help those in need. Greta's home was not just a sanctuary for her family and friends; it was a haven for anyone who sought solace or support. She opened her doors and her heart to those who required a listening ear, a comforting embrace, or simply a safe place to stay. Greta's selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, and her acts of kindness touched the lives of many. She possessed a remarkable ability to form deep and meaningful connections that surpassed the boundaries of mere friendship. She had an innate talent for cultivating relationships that transcended conventional labels, creating bonds that were akin to family.

Greta Gail Lee will forever be remembered as a beacon of joy, a culinary artist, and a compassionate soul. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering passion for life enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, laughter, and the true meaning of kindheartedness.

In the memories we hold dear, may Greta's laughter always echo, her delicious meals continue to provide sustenance, and her acts of kindness inspire us to reach out to those in need. Her absence is deeply felt, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her light.

May Greta find eternal rest, knowing that her life made a significant impact on all who knew her. She will forever be cherished and remembered as a shining example of love, generosity, and the power of opening one's heart and home to others in need.
