Gueret Bellefleur

March 25, 1952 — April 22, 2020

Gueret Bellefleur went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2020 at the age of 68.  Gueret Bellefleur was born to Claire Itepcie Ormejuste and Joseph Dantes Bellefleur on March 25, 1952 in Petit-Riviere Artibonite, Haiti.  Gueret was the 8th born of 13 children. Gueret grew up in St. Marc, Haiti where he attended primary school. He was the child of a pastor and during his youth, he enjoyed acting in church plays and participating in church youth group activities. Gueret completed high school in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, shortly before migrating to Montreal, QC in 1976 in search of “a better living”. Just one year later, Gueret moved to the United States where he settled in New Jersey.  Gueret met his wife, Marie-Ange Fils-Aime in Brooklyn, NY in 1979 and they married in 1980. From their marriage, they birthed two children: David Bellefleur in 1981 and Lyndsay Bellefleur in 1986. As a union, Gueret and Marie-Ange took on the responsibility of caring for children who were in need of parent figures. Gueret helped raised nieces and nephews in Haiti including Martine Fils-Aime, Robenson Fils-Aime, Arnold Estime, Berthony Estime, and Michelande Toussaint. In addition, Gueret and his wife adopted their son Edouard Latornelle who migrated to the U.S. as a teenager . Gueret and Marie-Ange Bellefleur opened their home up to all family members who came to the United States to re-establish themselves.  Gueret’s life was characterized as a life of service. Gueret studied theology and became a pastor in 1986. He served at New Fountain Baptist Church in Newark, NJ for 13 years. Pastor Gueret Bellefleur later joined Ebenezer C&MA Church of Newark, NJ in 2008 where he served as an associate pastor and a Church Elder. In ministry, he was known for baptizing many and preaching forthright, radical messages meant to inspire people to prepare for the coming of the Lord.  By trade, Pastor Bellefleur worked as a taxi driver and also had a personal transportation service business where he did moving services, provided airport rides, group rides, and built long-lasting friendships with clients he transported to NJ farms each summer and fall season. He and his wife established a family owned hair salon where Pastor Bellefleur also worked as a barber for about 30 years.  Pastor Gueret Bellefleur is survived by his wife, Marie-Ange, Bellefleur and their children David Bellefleur, Lyndsay Bellefleur, Eduourd Latournelle, Michelande Toussaint, Martine Fils-Aime, Robenson Fils-Aime, Arnold Estime, and Berthony Estime.  He is also survived by siblings: Bertha Bellefleur-Posi, Belfond Bellefleur, Cleaude Bellefleur-Fevry, Carl Bellefleur, Maxserge Belfleur, Jozier Bellefleur, Solon Bellefleur, Dr. Oberde Bellefleur and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
