Helen Sakala Gienga
July 30, 1923 — January 2, 2012
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Michael and the loving daughter of the late Katherine Sheremeta and the late Michael Sakala; stepdaughter of the late Wasyl Sheremeta; sister of the late Michael and the late Walter Sakala; sister in law of Dorothy and Mary Sakala: aunt of Walter Sakala and wife Sharon, Joyce, Robert and Michael Sakala. Helen was a clerk for 40 years at Prudential Insurance in Newark, retiring in 1982. She was very active at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the choir. She also worked on the church bulletin and ran Atlantic City bus trips with her late husband, Michael. Helen also volunteered at Irvington General Hospital.
