Ishaan Ali (aka - Herbert Lee Mallett) A time to be born. Herbert Lee Mallett was born July 7,1955 to Robert Lee and Leeaddie Hogue. A time to love. Ali was united in Holy Matrimony to Joyce Boswell on August 20, 1984. Ali has been in a loving relationship with Juanita Pugley of Irvington for the past 13 years. A time to die and a time of peace. On Monday, January 31, 2022, Ali stepped across the threshold into the Father’s House. Herbert Lee Mallett was in born in Mississippi on July 7, 1955. In 1962 the family moved to New Jersey. Ali attended Catholic School his first year but later transferred to the Newark Public School System. Ali was the youngest of six children of Leeaddie Hogue. His past time hobbies included bowling where he was very good playing, Ali was also a talented Artist, drawing people, animals, etc. He was well known for his comedic heart where he often smiled and cracked jokes. His singing voice was extraordinary. His voice level was like that of singer Eddie Kendricks and Smokey Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Leeaddie, two brothers, James Edward Hogue, Theaster Mallett and sister, Mildred Marie Ellis. Ali leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Joyce Ali, sons; Herbert Lee Mallett of Sacramento, CA & Safir Gray of Syracuse, NY, daughters; Pamela Travers of North Carolina, Yvonne Matthew-Ramsey of New Jersey, Shaliyah Ali of New Jersey, Iesha Ali of Pennsylvania and Kreisha Gray of Syracuse, NY & stepdaughter, Katina Muhammad, stepson, Tarik Boswell, Derik Day of North Carolina, his sister Delores (Honeylove) Mallett-Brown & brother, Willie Mallett. He also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
