Herne Lacoste

Mr. Herne Lacoste, of Irvington, New Jersey, died on April 17, 2020 at the age of 48 after a weeks-long battle with the Covid-19 disease. Herne was born on September 18, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Irvington, New Jersey before he started middle school. Herne was a popular child and was also an accomplished member of the track and field team at Irvington High School in Irvington, New Jersey. Herne received his Bachelor of Science from Rutgers School of Criminal Justice and University College in Newark, New Jersey. He was an employee of The Geo Group in the role of counselor as part of the Delaney Hall Reentry program in Newark, New Jersey. He was well liked by his coworkers who often relied on his wisdom and guidance. Herne enjoyed working out at the gym, spending time with friends, and was a massive Yankee and Jets fan and would attend games wherever possible. He served his church, the St. John Baptist Community Church in Newark, New Jersey and was actively involved in his faith community. His favorite pastime was being the "fun uncle" and doting on his nephews and nieces. He will be remembered by his friends and family as having the winning Lacoste smile, being funny, smart, talented and loving. Herne, the Lacoste families first-born son, will be loved and missed by his surviving father, Serge Lacoste Sr., mother, Marie Claire Lacoste, two younger brothers, Gregory Lacoste, Serge Lacoste Jr. and younger sister, Mirlyne Lacoste, nieces, Tiffanie Jhane Wicker, Deja McCready and nephews, De'Quan Lacoste, Xavier Lacoste, Isaiah Lacoste and Elijah Lacoste. Funeral services will be limited to immediate family members only. A formal memorial will be announced by the family at a later date and the family prefers not to receive flowers at this time.
