Ione Maria Silva

Ione Mari Silva, age 83 of Springfield, NJ passed away unexpectedly September 2024.

Born to Salomāo da Silva and Antonildes Mota E Silva on November 7, 1940 in San Louis, Maranhão Brazil.

She grew up in San Louis and lived there and in Rio de Janeiro before immigrating to the United States in 1971. She spent the rest of her life in Union and Springfield, NJ.

She worked at the Newark airport in customer service, winning many awards for superior customer service and excellent work ethics. She was loved by her fellow employees.

Her deepest love was writing, photography, her grandchildren and her family from Brazil. She is preceded by her parents, her siblings Fernando Mota e Silva, Julio Cesar Mota e Silva, and Irany Mota e Silva.

She is survived by her son Ubiratan Garcez Jr, his wife Michelle Latulippe and her grandchildren Ciarra, Mikayla, and Selena whom she adored and loved.

She is survived by her loving sister Ilka Auraujo and her children Erika, Claudia, and Vanessa, her caring brother César Mota e Silva and his wife Candeleria and their children Mauricia Daniella and César Augusto, her late brother Julio Cesar’s siblings Simone and Ricardo, as well as her loving cousins Silvia Rabello and Sonia Esteves.

Ione was a very kind, compassionate spirit. She dealt with many hardships and challenges that many immigrants faced with grace, humor and strength while beings miles away from her family in Brazil. She was loved by her family, coworkers, neighbors and friends and will be truly missed.
