Israel Velez

Israel Velez, 74 of Newark, entered into eternal life on September 28th at Clara Maass Medical Center. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on June 21, 1943, he lived most of his life in Newark. He retired as a master mechanic for the Revlon Corporation. He could fix almost anything and his strong work ethic and family values were lovingly passed on to his children. In his free time, he enjoyed playing Dominoes and was a die hard METS Fan. He is preceded in death by his son, Israel Velez, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn (nee: Perez), his adored children; Xavier Velez, Jose Perez, Ivan Velez, Frances Perez & Hector Velez, his loving siblings; Carmen Torres, Ana Perez, Lucy Baez, William Velez & Rosa Lopez. He is also the proud and loving grandfather of 7. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. (Additional parking on Broughton Avenue). A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
