James L Mcsorley

James L. McSorley, surrounded by his children and his wife, Jackie (nee Lawler), died after a brief illness on September 12, 2022 at his home.

Born in Jersey City Heights, Jimmy was the proud father of the late Daniel McSorley, Sharon McSorley, James McSorley, Patricia Darragh, Jacqueline Mincica, and Kevin McSorley as well as stepfather to Gary Borntrager, Lynda Borntrager Lawler, and SueAnn Borntrager Henderson.

When any of his children called he would always say “Hello my FAVORITE….” each child was always made to feel as though they were the favored one when alone with him. He had 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and is also is survived by his sister, Eleanor Jepson and was the brother of the late Charles McSorley and Raymond McSorley.

Jimmy served his country in the US Navy and in the Jersey City Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as a Captain . Jim also worked in the construction industry and was an avid golfer and BINGO player who enjoyed an occasional day at the casino in his retirement.

He was a wonderful storyteller (and occasional prankster) who took great pleasure in making people laugh. Bringing joy to others was his most endearing quality. He was a kind and thoughtful man who believed that the most important part of life is love for one another.

A humble man who wanted no ‘attention’ in his passing, Jimmy asked to simply be remembered fondly. He chose to not have any service or ceremony, which his family will honor. He will be dearly missed
