Jane Aponte

Jane Aponte, 67 of Whiting, formerly of Jersey City, entered into eternal life on December 2nd at her home. Born January 23, 1951 in Jersey City, she lived there most of her life before moving to Whiting in 2014. Jane & her husband, Israel owned and operated Village Tropical & Aquarium on Newark Avenue in downtown Jersey City for decades. Jane loved crosswords and puzzles, it kept her mind sharp. She enjoyed collecting dolls, loved cooking and being together with her family for the holidays. She is survived by her husband, Israel, her children; Israel, Jr., Elisa & Daniel Aponte, Michael & Anthony Reyes & Julie Martinez, her sister, Mildred Arriaga & six grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert & Raymond Santana. At Jane's wish, services were private.
