Janina Stuzynski

June 10, 1928 — August 27, 2013

Janina Stuzynski (nee Prachniak) was born in Poland to Czeslawa and StanislawPrachniak on June 10, 1928. She passed away on August 27, 2013 at the age of 85 predeceased by her devoted husband Thomas, her parents, and her brother Czelsaw. She is survived by her three loving children; Joanna and her husband Eugene Darke; Tadeusz and his wife Ivelisse; and youngest son Thomas; as well as her two beloved grandchildren Rebecca and Brendan; and her two sisters Helen and Teresa. As a child, Janina lived and worked on her family farm in Poland with her father and siblings, while her mother worked in the United States in hopes of the family to follow. Once World War II began and all borders were closed Janina remained in Poland living through the struggles of the German and Russian occupations. In 1947 the family was able to travel to the United States via the SS Batory to the piers in Brooklyn in order to begin a new life. Janina met and married her husband and worked in both the Chicklets factory and at Leviton prior to leaving the working world to raise her family. In 1954 the family moved to Bloomfield, New Jersey where she resided until her passing. During her life Janina was always a busy lady. She volunteered often for local organizations, such as the American Legion Auxiliary, and joined a bowling club at Broad and Bay Lanes. She was an amazing seamstress who made beautiful clothing and would replicate expensive items for friends and family. Once her children were grown, Janina worked at her daughter's daycare center assisting in the raising of many children, including her two grandchildren. She worked until retirement. Janina was a lover of life. She had the power to see the good in everyone and find beauty in the smallest things. She enjoyed gardening and when most would toss a wilting rose, she knew how to bring life back. Janina knew every trick to get a stain out of your clothing and if you had a question regarding housekeeping she often knew the answer. Sitting with her was always enjoyable as her memory was sharpand she would tell stories of her childhood, growing up, and her life in America, which would have all been New York Times best sellers had they been written. Throughout her life Janina enjoyed many of the simple things that most take for granted, such as walking through a garden or along the ocean shoreline. She watched Judge Judy, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune regularly and was extremely fond of the slots and scratch off lottery tickets. It wasn't until her recent open-heart surgery that she began to slow down and ultimately pulmonary fibrosis look over her lungs. Janina was loved as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all.
