Jean Perna (nee: Peda), 96 of Bloomfield, entered into eternal life on September 11, 2022, at her residence. Born October 13, 1925, in Newark, to the late Frank & Rose (nee: Devone), she lived in Newark and East Orange before settling in Bloomfield in 1978. Jean was a homemaker, lovingly caring for her family for years. Later in life, she would babysit on occasions. In her younger days she was an avid bowler, she played regularly with her friends, and was pretty good at it. Although she didn’t travel much, she made one visit to San Francisco and Hollywood California and loved it. As a family-oriented woman, Jean enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and had great joy in cooking for them and knowing they enjoyed what she made.
She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony (2009), six siblings and her son Anthony.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children; Gerard Perna, Maria Perna-Elias & Michele Perna, her beautiful grandchildren, Christopher, Jessi & Jenna Perna-Elias.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Lucy’s Church, Newark at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Since one of her greatest joys was cooking and feeding her family and friends, the family has requested in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to Feeding America (www.FeedingAmerica.org) in her memory.
