Jeannette St. Fleur, born as Jusma but known as Madame Romanes, departed this life peacefully on the 6th of April 2022 at the age of 91, at St. Barnabas hospital, Livingston NJ due to complications of cancer. She was born and raised in Chantal, a section of les Cayes (Sud d’Haiti) Haiti. On August 7th, 1930. She married her longtime boyfriend and sweetheart Romanes St. Fleur in April 25th 1959 who preceded her in death in February 8th 2008. She migrated to the United States in 1970 to be reunited with her loving husband, Mr. Romanes St. Fleur who left Haiti in 1966, and lived in New Jersey for more than 52 years. Jeannette loved to demonstrate the affection and love for people, showering them with food, and gifts on anniversaries and Christmas. She was a strong mother dedicated herself to taking care of her children and grandchildren including her extended family. She enjoyed many activities such as: sewing, gardening cooking, attended daily mass, listening to Haitian radio (radio PAM). She had three brothers (Abel, Hermane, Alex Jusma ) who preceded her death. Her life was a living example of the favorite bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one and other, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”. She was a very special kind of woman who devoted her life to her family. Always caring and attentive. She found great contentment in the simple pleasures in life. When a loved one is gone, memories of time spent together are like treasures. Children, grandchildren, great-grand children, family and friends will carry the treasures of Madame Romanes St. Fleur with them always and forever.
