Jerald Morris

February 9, 1945 — July 31, 2023

Jerald Morris, age 78, of Livingston, N.J. went home to be with the Lord on Monday July 31, 2023.

Mr. Morris was one of three boy triplets born on February 9, 1945, in Woodbury, N.J., to the late Estella and the late James Morris, who passed away several years ago. His brothers and also a sister are no longer with us.

Jerald is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Galina Morris; stepdaughter Polina Kozlowski-Sannik & her husband Matthew Sannik; and step-granddaughters Lannah Kozlowski and Natasha Kozlowski-Sannik.

Jerald accepted Christ as his Lord and savior in 1977 which led him to pursue Bible studies at Northeastern Bible College in Philadelphia. He graduated with a Ph. D in divinity and later published a book titled: Fifty Christian Myths. Jerald loved playing drums on a worship team and often used any opportunity to speak and teach publicly. He was a dedicated follower of Christ and worked tirelessly for the kingdom of God.

Jerald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was an active member of VFW post 3620 of Gloucester, N.J. He had earned various decorations and medals such as an expert rifleman, national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal and the Vietnam campaign medal.

Mr. Morris Served 18+ years as an employee for State of New Jersey. Jerald worked as an integral part of the support staff to the Education and Administrative bureaus in the Museum. As reservationist for the Education Bureau, he was an important part of ensuring generations of children enjoyed a field trip at the Museum. More recently, Jerald worked for the Museum’s administrative team, where he provided support for the entire Museum staff.

Jerald became an active union member of the CWA Local 1033 family in 2005. He immediately took on the role of Shop Steward representing his co-workers at the NJ State Museum. Jerald was a strong leader who believed in the Union and worked tirelessly to protect workers’ rights. Most recently, he led his union sisters and brothers in a rally demanding a fair contract for NJ State workers. His determination and dedication will be greatly missed and his untimely passing leaves all that knew Jerry with a heavy heart.
