John A. Rehus, 92 of Bloomfield, entered into eternal life on Monday, June 13th at the New Jersey Firemen's Home in Boonton. Born in Newark, John was the son of Mary and Joseph and was a lifelong Bloomfield resident. He was a proud WWII Navy Veteran aboard the U.S.S. Monrovia. He took part on the amphibious invasions of Sicily, Tarawa, Kwajalein, Marianas, Leyte, Lingayen, Iwo Jim and Okinawa. Upon his return, John joined the Bloomfield Fire Department where he devoted himself for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the FMBA & American Legion. He is predeceased by his wife, Florence. He is survived by his children & spouses, Kathy Basset of Silver Spring, MD., Diane of Newark, NJ., Jack (Diane) of Pennsylvania & Joseph (Mary) of Cedar Knolls, NJ. He is the proud and loving grandfather of Melissa, Michael (Marisa), Ben (Sandra), Julie (Nacho), John, Kelly, Noel, Kaitlyn and Jamie; and one great-grandchild, Michael. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
