John Alex Robinson

John Alex Robinson has peaceful passed on Monday, October 12th, 2020 at the glorious age of 71 years. He was born in Georgetown, Kentucky on Wednesday, July 6, 1949 to Edward and Dorothy Robinson. He was a 1967 graduate of Georgetown High School in Kentucky. John moved to New York, where he successful obtained his B.S. and M.A. in Criminal Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice; and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Fordham University of New York. He went on to further his passion for public servitude as a police officer for the city of East Orange, New Jersey. He served his community for 25 years and on-duty is where he met his wife, Rita. In addition to his work as “Officer J.A.”, he provided safety to congregants of Calvary Baptist Church, East Orange, NJ for many years. Upon retirement, John used his charismatic and joyful personality to positively influence tomorrow’s generation, as a substitute teacher for the Orange, New Jersey Public School System. John was known to possess great “people skills” and remaining levelheaded, even in the most difficult situations. He was often notoriously known for his warm smile and calming demeanor, especially among members of Universal Hagars’ Spiritual Church Association. John was well loved by so many. His wife and children declared him to be their personal ‘superhero’. He was always there for them through all ups and downs and taught his children to enjoy every moment life has to offer, and to eternally choose happiness. He enjoyed watching and attending professional sporting events, cars, western movies, traveling, was an avid photographer and loved being a family man. He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Rita Robinson; his children: Karriem Miles, Houston, TX, Canaan (John) Dewey, Santa Monica, CA, and Kimberly Robinson, Orlando, FL/East Orange, NJ. He was beloved by his three grandchildren: Dora, Tyreq and Sanaa. Six sisters: Mary Robinson (fraternal twin), Lexington, KY, Ella Robinson, Lexington, KY, Rose Custard, Cynthiana, KY, Patricia Robinson, Georgetown, KY, Linda Robinson, Franfort KY, Dorothy (Richard) Bradshaw, Frankfort, KY. Two brothers: Clark (Ella) Moore, Lexington, KY, Joel (Carol) Robinson, Cincinnati, OH. An aunt: Pearlina Holman, Lexington, KY. Three brothers-in-law: Guy (Marthinea) Anderson, Willingboro, NJ, Stuart (Benita) Anderson, Cardinal, VA, Farley (Errolyn) Anderson, Manassas, VA.
