Joseph Donargo, 57 of Islamorada, Florida, formerly of Jersey City, entered into eternal life on June 30, 2020 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Born and raised in downtown Jersey City to the late Lawrence “Lardy” & Louise (nee: Terriogo) Donargo, he was a graduate of St. Peter’s Prep, Jersey City. He was employed as a Firefighter for the City of Jersey City, retiring in 2012. Joe loved the simple pleasures in life, going out to dinner and savoring a good wine, spending time with all his friends from childhood (especially those summer rentals at the Jersey Shore) and his brother firefighters, playing hockey, soccer and running. He loved living in Florida, where he permanently took residence 10 years ago. Sun, sand, boating and fishing were much a part of his daily life. He was genuine and down to earth and left a huge impression on anyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Michele Nasuta Donargo, his siblings, Barbara Donargo & Larry Donargo, his nephew, Antonio & his dear friend Selma Warholic & her son Christopher. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. (Parking attendants will be available at the Funeral Home). As per CDC guidelines please remember to wear a mask or face covering in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth St., Jersey City, NJ (There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to Mass, please meet at the Church). Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. (You must sign up to attend the Mass on Monday because seating is limited to 100 people as per the Governor’s orders.
