The family of Joseph E. Nimeth mourn his passing of 6/26/2016, but know the prayers and well wishes of family and friends line the path of his journey home to his Creator. Our hero was 1st generation American born in Dunmore, Pa., on 11/28/1918 to George Nimeth and Anna Mikula. As a child, he helped his family of 13 by picking up coal which would fall off passing trains, to help heat their modest home.. Joseph proudly served in the United States Army during World War II as a Technical Sergeant. He supervised 1500 POW's in Antwerp, Belgium. He was in Company C in the 48th Armored Infantry Batallion, and received medals for his distinguished service. He married Marie D. Woelkers on 8/30/1941, and their love endured for 53 years during which time they raised daughters Denise M. Bellog and Debra A. Killeen, and were ever present in the lives of their precious grandchildren: Joseph D. Killeen, Christina L. Adams, Kristen M. Driscoll, Steven A. Bellog and Kevin T. Bellog; great grandsons Joseph B. Killeen and Logan A. Driscoll. He is also survived by his caring neighbors whose friendships he cherished. Special thanks to his physician, Dr. Bart De Gregorio and the caring staff of Atlantic Hospice as well. His charismatic personality, unconditional love and genuine desire to help people proved fortunate for those who knew him, and will impact generations to comeHe generously gave of himself and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to travel, whether it was Ocean Beach, Manasquan, St. Maarten, or cruising around the world. It would be hard not to smile while thinking of him and his quick wit, and classic style. His 97 years on this Earth witnessed the Spanish Flu of 1918, World War II, The Great Depression, the Recession in the 1970's, and the attacks of 9/11/2001.Yet through it all, he successfully provided for his family through hard work and perseverance. He was employed by a steel mill,, was active in the union labor movement, worked many years for Ballantine Brewery before retiring in 1984 from Anhauser Busch Brewery. His family welcomes all to attend.
