Joyce E. Pekalski

November 3, 1926 — February 14, 2019

Joyce E. Mobey Pekalski passed away on February 14, 2019. She was 92. A memorial gathering will take place at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 6-9 PM. Joyce was known to so many as Nana. She always had so many interesting stories to tell of her childhood in England and surviving World War II, as well as her brave journey to immigrate to America with “two shillings, two kids and two sauce pans”. She spent years of her life working in retail. Her favorite was in the shoe shop in Reading, England which was bombed to the ground while she was out to lunch. She did love her shoes. Loved to dance! Often walking miles in England to attend the Saturday night dance. She met her husband Adam at a dance in England and they were married for over 60 years. They still went dancing weekly until they were both well into their 80’s! Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Adam, and is survived by her loving daughter, Christine Hauck. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Hauck and his wife, Heather, Carley Storm and her husband, Eric, Adam Hauck and his wife, Sonia, and Sonia’s mother, Lillian Buruiana. Nana is also survived by her loving Great Grandchildren Lorelai Hauck and George Storm. Joyce sadly leaves behind her sister, Mary Balis and her brother, Danny Mobey in England, her sister, Linda England in Australia and her niece, Rachel Smyth in England and their families. As well as the many people that were gathered along the way that became “family”. Nana’s last years were spent living the party life with Adam, Sonia, Lil, Bob (the spoiled dog) and Bill (the spoiled cat). Their never-ending love and care for her goes beyond measure. Nana couldn’t get over how much her grandson Adam was so much like her husband Adam. It forever warmed her heart. She is also survived by her son, Anthony Pekalski (his wife, Kyoko) and their children, Alex and Andre’. We would like to think that Nan had a Valentine’s Day date with her husband Adam. We’re sure they are once again dancing.
