Juan Carlos Rego, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in South Orange, N.J. He was born on April 12, 1940 in Havana, Cuba to the late Juan Eusebio Rego and Remedios Estrada Rego. Juan dedicated over 50 years to Sterling National Bank as a Computer Programming Director and Vice President, a testament to his commitment and expertise in his field.
Juan was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in South Orange, N.J. His hobbies included reading, solving crossword puzzles, enjoying Jack Daniels, smoking cigars, and cherishing sunny days on the front porch of his family home.
Juan is survived by his three cherished sons and their spouses, Juan C. Rego, Jr. and Annamaria Rego, Jose E. Rego and Margaret Rego and Alejandro Rego and Nancy Rego. He was a proud grandfather to Felicia, Stephanie, Juan C., III, Alexandra, Nicolas, Daniel, Julia, Christina, and Anthony Rego, and a loving great-grandfather to Jonathan David, Sofia Josefina, and Meadow Brooke. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josefina (nee: Batlle) Rego, and his dear sisters, Carmelina, Elia, Elma, and Martha.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 5-9 p.m. at Union Funeral Home – Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, N.J. Services begin on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange, at 10 a.m. with interment following at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Juan’s memory, honoring his compassionate spirit. Juan’s legacy of love, dedication, and warmth will forever resonate with those who knew him.
