Katharyna Hill

Katharyna (Kathi) Hill, age 88 of Newark passed away on May 9, 2012. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, May 11 at 10:00AM from the Union Funeral Home-Lytwyn & Lytwyn, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave, Union. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Katharyna was born in Dnipropetrovska, Ukraine. She had one brother, Alexander, who predeceased her. Katharyna (Kathi) was the beloved partner of John Volpone up until his death in 1986, but remained a close friend of John's family. She was employed by Smart Size on Broad Street in Newark for 29 years. Katharyna was devoted to her church, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ascension in Maplewood, and a member of their senior group. Everyone in Kathi's neighborhood knew and loved her. She always had a smile and a kind word, and would reach out her hand to anyone who needed help. She spent many months at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston and recently moved to Sunrise Assisted Living in Randolph. We can't thank you enough, the nurses, aides and staff of St. Barnabas Medical Center, Sunrise Assisted Living, St. Barnabas Hospice and Bayada Home Healthcare, for the kindness and compassion you showed Kathi these last few months and weeks. She was truly blessed.
