Larry D. "LD" Robinson, 83, transitioned on September 1, 2024, at the Park Avenue Facility in Long Beach, NY. A Memorial Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Union Funeral Home - Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, N.J. A prayer service will be offered at 11 a.m. with Military Honors to conclude the services.
Larry was born May 29, 1941, in Starkville, Miss to Jimmie Lee and Jessie Lee Robinson.
After high school, Larry continued his education at Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi for one semester then decided to enlist in the United States Marine corps from July 1960 as a Private E1. During his tenure he received a Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corp Expeditionary Medal and was recommended to attend NCO School and shortly after he acquired the rank of Corporal E4. Larry received an Honorable Discharge for his active duty on July 20, 1964.
Larry proceeded towards a career in the financial sector, he attended City College of New York American Institute of Banking and Professional Management which lead him to acquiring roles the of Corporate Finance Specialist for Bankers Trust company, Senior Investor Account Manager for Bank of Boston, and Assistant Vice President of Investor Relations/ customer Service for Mellon Financial Services. Larry was an active member of professional associations Corporate Stock Transfer Association and the Energy System Corporation, ADR.
Larry was very entrepreneurial; he owned an executive limousine service and was a marketing sales manager for the Kirby and Amway and a DJ.
Larry was in search of a church home in 2006 and deemed that it would be Bethel Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the Bedford -Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, NY. His pride and joy was serving as a Deacon, Treasurer and assisting with any handyman projects around and within the church.
Larry loved reading, watching sports, and traveling. He enjoyed being with his family during gatherings .
He is survived by Daughter Candace and Son Zachary Robinson, 7 great grandchildren and his immediate family of brothers and sisters Dorothy Lanier, Clinton Robinson and Wife Robin, Mozella Williams and Husband Joe, Charlie Robinson, Queene Boyd and Husband Eddie, Henry Robinson, Annie Boyd, Stafford Robinson, Terry Robinson and David Yeates and Wife Dr. Kimberly and extended family who reside in Starkville, Mississippi.
