Cherished father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Leo DeGennaro, 75, of Clifton, N.J., passed away on Friday July 5, 2024. Born in Molfetta, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Maria DeGennaro, Leo came to the U.S. in 1954. He grew up in Union City and raised a family in West Milford before settling in Clifton. After retiring from a career in logistics, Leo had time to pursue a variety of interests: movies, music, traveling, photography, and being by the sea. Leo was most at home celebrating with friends and family, where he would regale his brothers, sister, sisters-in-law, and large extended family with stories and jokes.
Leo is predeceased by his beloved sister, Maria Spohn, and his wife, Ellen Wiener. He is survived by his sons, Michael and Steven; daughter-in-law, Christine; granddaughter, Ava; adored brothers, Vito, and wife, Marie, Cosmo, and wife, Judy; nieces, Dawn Marie, Darlene, Alison, Lisa Marie, Melissa, and Lisa; nephews, Cosmo, Jr., Joseph, Jason, and Anthony; and numerous beloved grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by his first wife, the mother of his children, Marlene Colavita. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend of 7 years, Dana Beebe.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield, N.J. Kindly gather directly at the Church for the Mass. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J. Arrangements are under the direction of Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield.
