Linda M. Coan (nee: Makela), age 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14th, 2022. Born and raised in Ely, Minnesota, Linda moved to Elizabeth, NJ, where she has resided for the past 35 years. She worked as a Health Care Aide for various facilities over the past 10 years. Her most recent position was with Elmora Hills Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Elizabeth. Prior to that she worked as a housekeeper/personal assistant for Drs. Allen and Laura Wiess in Springfield for 24 years.
Linda's greatest joy in life was when she married her soulmate and best friend, John, where together they would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on October 23rd, 2022. Life took Linda and John on many fascinating travel adventures both domestically and abroad including Aruba, Jamaica, and Mexico to name a few. She was known for her exceptional talents in the kitchen and for her love of hosting holiday gatherings, especially Thanksgiving where she enjoyed making her traditional holiday meals and her spinach dip which was always sure to be a hit with her guests. With a love for all animals, she was fiercely devoted to her canine cocker spaniel, Freckles, and treasured the bond she had with him.
Linda was predeceased by her father, William "Bill" Makela and stepfather, Marley Kendall. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband, John Coan, her mother, Frances Kendall (nee: Mikolich), stepbrother, Marley Kendall Jr., stepsister, Marlene Kendall Nagengast, many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family in Minnesota.
A private cremation was held at the Rosehill Crematory in Linden, NJ.
While Linda's family grieves her loss, they choose to remember her in a way that honors her life. Her husband John would like to invite relatives and friends to attend a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, October 20th, from 9:00 to 11:00 am. at the Union Funeral Home-Lytwyn & Grillo, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home in Bayonne, NJ.
